Each year, many of us make resolutions to improve our lives. Did you know that United Way of the Bluegrass can help you keep some of your resolutions? We took a look at the most common resolutions, and found a few that are right up our alley. Think of us as your Resolution Cheerleader.
Learn something new
UWBG is passionate about education. In fact, two of our four pillars of success - student success and school readiness - center on it. There is no better way to learn something new than by helping teach something new to someone else. UWBG partnered with William Wells Brown Elementary in 2015 to mentor students, and the school saw great improvements in test scores. You can brush up on your skills and learn new ones by hanging out with some pretty awesome elementary students at WWB and other surrounding schools through the VIP Program (more information coming soon!) or with Trailblazers.
Financial stability is another area of focus for UWBG, and the resources are ready and waiting for you. Bank on Bluegrass can help you set up a bank account, and also provides online financial education. If you'd like a more personal approach, you can connect with one of our banking partners to learn more. If you're looking for another way to save, you may qualify for free tax preparation through CKEEP. Trained tax preparers help you file your taxes. To see if you qualify, take the free survey here.
Give back to the community
The idea of "giving back" can take many forms. You may wish to make a financial gift, or you may look to give your time and talents to a cause or causes you feel passionate about supporting. Either way, UWBG is here to help you keep this resolution. When you financially support UWBG, you support multiple causes throughout Central Kentucky, as we work with partner agencies to create an impact in the Bluegrass. If it's time you're interested in giving, UWBG can help you find the volunteer opportunity that best meets your time, talents and passions.
Spend more time with family and loved ones
What better way to spend time with your family than by volunteering together? Connect with volunteer opportunities on our website or by contacting 2-1-1. Then, grab your family, roll up your sleeves and make a difference! You can also keep up-to-date about upcoming family-friendly events on our Facebook page.
We wish you great success in reaching your goals this year, and hope that we can help you along the way.
