Paris, KY – August 8, 2013  Avantor™ Performance Materials, a global provider of performance chemistries and materials, recently provided $3,000 in funding to the United Way of the Bluegrass to support the organization’s Community Conversations initiative, which brings together diverse segments of the region to discuss their shared vision for education and the community.
The funding, which was provided through the Avantor Giving Program, will enable the United Way of the Bluegrass to hold more than 150 Community Conversations across the nine counties it serves. Community Conversations engage members of the community to identify the key gaps and educational needs in the community through a focus group format. The United Way will use the information collected during these meetings to develop plans to improve education in central Kentucky.
“United Way of the Bluegrass is honored to accept Avantor’s recent and generous gift toward our Community Conversations initiative.  The feedback, ideas and inspiration collected through this process will allow us to focus our efforts in the areas of greatest need and opportunity, ensuring maximum impact. By engaging key leaders and concerned citizens across the region, we are assembling an army of talent and resources to help make Central Kentucky one of the greatest learning communities in the nation,” said Bill Farmer, President of United Way of the Bluegrass.
Through the Avantor Giving Program, the company provides direct support to the communities in which it operates. This includes Bourbon County, which is home to an Avantor manufacturing and distribution facility that employs more than 200 individuals. The company provides financial and other support to non-profit programs and initiatives in the areas of education, community services and environmental protection and sustainability.
