Building a stronger future for both students and businesses, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky will sponsor 20 high school students in Central Kentucky through the NaviGo College and Career Prep Services program.
On Monday, June 13, NaviGo and United Way of the Bluegrass will recognize Toyota and the students who have been selected for the 2016-17 NaviGo Scholars Program.
Representatives from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky combed through applications looking for students who had interests that aligned with company interests and values. Identifying those students before they ever graduate from high school will allow companies to work with students who could potentially fill their future job needs.
In turn, students will get training and experience to succeed in the workforce following graduation. In addition, NaviGo will provide a college and career coach for each of the participating students.
This approach not only helps serve the workforce needs of our region, and assist selected students with preparation of needed skills beyond high school – but also assists in recruiting and training potential future employees for participating companies.
Students selected as NaviGo Futures Scholars will meet in small cohort groups on a monthly basis with ongoing communication provided by the NaviGo Coach.
The announcement will come Monday at 9 a.m. at the United Way of the Bluegrass office on Midland Avenue.
