United Way of the Bluegrass has conceived, developed and implemented a common sense approach to community solutions and applied it to funding allocations to partner agencies. We applied creativity and innovation to the process and have made a commitment to long-term solutions and accountability. Focusing on Education, Basic Needs and Financial Stability, your dollars will not only apply to the needs of today, but invest in solutions for tomorrow. Together, we will ensure that our Big Bold Goal is met to help 20,000 families become more self-sufficient by 2020.
Hundreds of regional volunteers charted a new path towards taking the investment beyond critical services into long term solutions. United Way of the Bluegrass partnering agency proposals have been received, evaluated, scored, reviewed and vetted by an engaged community. We added in accountability pieces so that we can determine over time which are best practices and implement them across the region, all to insure the best return on this investment in our neighborhoods. Because community volunteers asked, the new review process helps to ensure that every dollar is well spent. And, because community volunteers asked, to make the best decisions we engaged experts in Education, Financial Stability and Basic Needs to evaluate and score proposals, which then were prioritized by community members.
We are proud of our partnering agencies who have risen to the challenge of developing fresh, new, creative and innovative programs to address decades old issues while being sensitive to the critical issues and concerns for today.
The programs listed below will receive funding through 2020 to build strength in Basic Needs, Student Success, School Readiness and Financial Stability as well as critical health and human services within each of these areas.
