United Way of the Bluegrass Relocating to the Lexington Herald-Leader Building
January 2, 2014 – Lexington, KY - United Way of the Bluegrass will be relocating later this month to a leased space within the Lexington Herald-Leader building on Midland Avenue.  After extensive consideration and review, United Way’s Board of Directors has supported the move.

Dr. Augusta Julian, Chair of the Board of Directors, said, “The Board sees this move to a more
central location, as an opportunity to increase visibility, build community partnerships and promote the work United Way of the Bluegrass and its partnering agencies are doing to help improve Central Kentucky. After a lengthy review, the Board agreed that relocating to the Herald-Leader building would also increase efficiency and lower operating costs.”

The Lexington Herald-Leader has been a strong supporter of United Way’s mission and vision for Central Kentucky.  The move provides a great opportunity for developing more creative and collaborative partnerships with existing relationships, as well as outreach for new relationships in and around the downtown area.

Rufus Friday, President and Publisher of the Lexington Herald-Leader, said, "We are delighted to welcome such a strong and valuable community organization as a tenant along with us in our main building. Our business as a newspaper has evolved into a continuous news and information company. Along with this evolution, changes in technology have allowed us to reduce our facility foot print.   We now have the opportunity to offer office space to other organizations like we have done with the United Way.  We see this as a win-win for all and are delighted that the United Way of the Bluegrass will be joining us here in downtown Lexington.”

United Way of the Bluegrass will open for business in the new location on January 2, 2014. The address will be 100 Midland Avenue, Suite 300, Lexington, KY 40508.
