United Way of the Bluegrass advances the common good in Central Kentucky. We help create opportunities for a better life for all as we strive to achieve the Big Bold Goal, that 10,000 more families will be self-sufficient by 2020. To achieve this, we are focusing on four key pillars of success: basic needs, student success, school readiness and financial stability.
Over 21,000 kids in Central Kentucky live at or near poverty level. United Way of the Bluegrass is working to address basic needs, injustices, inequities lack of resources and other barriers in order to move these children and their families forward.
One in two students are not prepared to enter kindergarten on the first day of school. This is why UWBG is leading initiatives to improve the quality of childcare, providing family support and early intervention opportunities in order to equip parents to make positive choices for their families.
Two out of five high school grads aren’t ready for college or career. United Way of the Bluegrass strives to help children and youth achieve their potential by emphasizing education as the foundation for personal fulfillment, economic security and societal contribution.
Over 50,000 families in Central Kentucky struggle to make ends meet. With your help, United Way of the Bluegrass is investing in economic empowerment so low-to-middle income families have the resources and support to meet needs, weather emergencies and make investments toward a brighter future.
