POSITION
The Marketing & Engagement Coordinator is an innovative thinker who works under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Engagement on the responsibility of the corporate image of the organization through product development, public relations, marketing, communication, and special events. The Marketing & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for marketing, communications, volunteer management, social media, and event management to inform the community about UWBG events, and inspire opportunities to engage as donors, volunteers, advocates, and partners. This person works closely with staff, volunteers, and vendors to advance our fundraising and impact goals. The successful candidate must be an effective and positive communicator, able to manage concurrent projects and offer creative solutions. The individual should have strong writing skills to manage the execution of the marketing and communication strategies.
Areas of focus include internal and external communications, special events, volunteer management, and community affairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop and update marketing plans and special events calendar, with short- and long-range goals.

Develop and distribute press releases and marketing correspondence.

Maintain media database and relevant contact lists for marketing and volunteers.

Coordinate and monitor all event timelines to ensure all deadlines for events and marketing are met

Volunteer Management, which includes but is not limited to:
-
Organizing volunteers for events;
-
Develop corporate volunteer engagement;
-
Coordinate special event volunteer needs;
-
Build rapport with past and new volunteers;
-
Manage volunteer database (Volunteer Hub).

Gather data for event calendars, annual reports, and requested marketing information.
-
Coordinate event timelines and deadlines.
-
Draft initial press release and email materials for campaigns (e.g., Sweet Dreams, Day of Action, etc.).

Send marketing materials for proofing and to print.

Attend agency fairs, business mixers and community events throughout the ten counties we serve.

Assist with campaign as needed or required.

Collaborate with co-workers as it relates to events, marketing, and volunteers.

Manage and execute in person, virtual or hybrid fundraising events (i.e., annual Sweet Dreams event, Golf Tournament, etc.) to meet revenue goals, inspire engagement and provide high quality guest experiences.

In conjunction with the Marketing Director:

Facilitate event planning such as: logistics, vendors, volunteers, committee/staff tasks, digital platform, materials & promotion, sponsor/donor outreach & recognition, and budget/event analysis;

Support for external fundraising events with community partners as needed.

Provide team support for outreach & recognition events as needed.

Support community outreach, campaign/donor development, community impact and operations as needed to fulfill United Way’s mission and goals.

Champion the UWBG brand by serving as brand ambassador for all UWBG products and services.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COMPETENCIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree, or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.

1-3 years in customer service, communication, marketing, journalism, or related field preferred. (Internship experience accepted).

Excellent oral and written communication skills in person and on the phone.
-
Effective and engaging presentation skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. This position will be primarily based out of the central UWBG office, hybrid work is possible with Director approval.
EXPECTED WORK HOURS
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week. With occasional evenings and weekends leading up to and during events. Flexible daily hours may be available year-round. Daily work schedule and any flextime hours must be approved by the department head.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, and exchange accurate information interpersonally or through communication devices. Must be able to learn new systems and procedures, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The position requires occasional movement throughout the office to access files, papers, or move supplies weighing up to 20lbs. Valid Kentucky driver’s license required as well as access to reliable insured automobile to be used for work-related travel in the Central Kentucky area. Must be willing to occasionally work non-standard work schedule including nights, weekends, & other unusual hours.

Any candidate offered a position may be required to pass pre-employment screenings as mandated by UWBG. These screenings may include a national background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
