Let’s learn more about Chas in our question and answer session below!
What made you realize you had a passion for these volunteer efforts?
I’ve always seen youth in need and children not having the things they should have, but I married my wife eight years ago and she is a schoolteacher. She would come home with a lot of stories about these children who didn't have anything materially or emotionally. The YLS spends a lot of time trying to help in that area. The needs of the youth in our community are so great.
What is your favorite part of being the YLS President?
Not only do I get to see firsthand the positive change that is taking place, but also the camaraderie that comes with it. There are several members in YLS and it’s just a really good experience to have these contacts that share the same passion of helping the youth in our community.
What is your favorite part of being on the Board of Directors?
The camaraderie is great here. I’ve also been able to meet people who have been doing this for a long time - they continue to do amazing things. I’d say just being able to see real-life role models who continue to make those big changes in the community.
What about volunteering in these positions inspires you?
You read a lot of headlines and negativity about the nation down to our specific communities, but it’s really inspiring and uplifting to see individuals who are truly trying to help make things better.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I don’t have much free time, but when I do I like to follow UK sports, watch football and spend time with my children and wife. I’m pretty active with my local church as well.
Fast questions:
How would you describe yourself?
Driven, motivated and dedicated.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I’m a little bit of both, but if I had to choose I’d say early bird.
If you could time travel, would you go back in time or to the future?
The fun thing would go to the future, but I would probably go back in time. It seems like things were simpler.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation.
Thank you for your amazing work on the Board of Directors and as the YLS President, Chas! We appreciate everything you’re doing to improve our community.
