United Way Seeking Volunteers for Days of Action

June 11, 2021 – Lexington, KY - On June 17-18, United Way of the Bluegrass (UWBG) will host its annual Days of Action, presented by Community Trust Bank. The regional volunteer event is an invitation for people and organizations in the area to unite in volunteerism and service.

United Way is calling for volunteers to lend a hand to local nonprofits and community organizations. “The last year has been challenging for many of us and has greatly impacted United Way, and all of our philanthropic partners. As we re-imagine and rebuild together, we hope the community will join us by volunteering during Days of Action,” said UWBG President and CEO, Timothy Johnson. “Volunteers are critical to the success of our collective work, and we still need an additional 100 people to join us next week to ensure that all of our projects can be completed.”

Local partners will host volunteer activities in multiple counties served by UWBG. A variety of projects are available for all ages and abilities and will range from 1 to 4 hours. Many projects are outdoor activities and include tasks like painting, organizing, landscaping and more.

United Way encourages participation from individual volunteers, families, and corporate or civic groups. Johnson said, “Days of Action is a great opportunity for volunteers to unite in service and make a difference in their communities. After a tough year, we hope people will come together and volunteer to help local organizations.”
